Acting Chief Executve Officer, Murray Darling Basin Authority

Members of the not-for-profit Petaurus Education Group have been working with schools in the Wentworth Shire for 10 years to harness youth views on better managing land and water issues. Petaurus is currently running a three-year youth leadership program that will focus on young people taking a lead on environmental issues. All schools in Wentworth Shire will participate in the program run in partnership with Wentworth Shire Council and the NSW Stronger Country Communities program. It will involve workshops, problem-solving, research, student books, cultural heritage, excursions, mentoring, on-ground activities and a major youth forum.  The presentation at the MDA National Conference will involve students from Gol Gol and Dareton public schools followed by the launch of a youth-focussed video showcasing the Wentworth Shire.
